How to send your samples?
Packaging Requirements
1. Primary container: leak‑proof tube or jar with tissue and formalin
2. Secondary container: sealed bag with absorbent material*
3.Outer packaging: rigid, drop‑tested box (styrofoam box, solid cardboard box, or equivalent)
4. Labeling: mark as "Exempt Animal Specimen"
These requirements comply with international transport regulations (IATA, ICAO, EU, US, DSB) and apply to formalin‑fixed tissue samples. *The absorbent should be sufficient to contain the entire volume of formalin if the inner container leaks.
Shipping Samples From the EU
Formalin‑fixed histology samples can be shipped freely within the EU. No permits or applications are required. Packaging requirements as listed above.
Shipping Samples from Outside the EU
For all shipments originating outside the EU, an application to the relevant authorities is required at least 21 days before the shipment date.
It is recommended to plan this well in advance, ideally before starting the experiment, to ensure that paperwork does not delay the project.
Required steps:
Provide advance notice of the planned shipment
Receive support in preparing the necessary documents for the authorities
Submit the application (at least 21 days before shipping)
Ship using standard packaging and label the shipment as:"Exempt Animal Specimen"
